BLISSFIELD — Clinton’s coach Mike Ruhl was tired of being stuck on Win No. 199.
The Redskin basketball got over the hump and reached the career milestone Thursday, winning his 200th varsity game as the Clinton boys basketball coach. His Redskins used a big fourth quarter to beat the Royals, 47-35, to pick up their first win of the season.
“We lost last year in the Regional to Whiteford, then we lost our opener to Manchester,” Ruhl said. “It feels good just to get it out of the way.”
Ryon Luzier poured in 23 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Clinton to its win. He scored 13 points in the fourth quarter when Clinton outscored Blissfield 20-8. The two teams entered the final quarter tied 27-27.
Blissfield (1-1) will play at Summerfield Friday. The Royals are coached by Ron Estes, who coached at Summerfield in his last stint as boys varsity basketball coach in the 1990s. He will be coaching against David Raymond, the Bulldog boss, who played for Estes.
