BD withstands Trojan rally, wins 43-39

MADISON TOWNSHIP — Britton-Deerfield withstood a furious fourth-quarter rally by Madison and handed the Trojans their first TCC loss, 43-39.

BD led 11-4 after the first quarter, 23-12 at halftime and had a 34-19 advantage with 3:19 left in the third quarter.

However, Madison’s Ashley Morris scored 10 fourth-quarter points to knot the game at 39-39 with 2:24 left. BD hurried up court and got a layup by Ella Nighswander to go ahead 41-39. BD would never trail.

Nighswander had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Morgan Tanis had 11 points and 17 rebounds. Janessa Handy had 11 points, including a free throw with 2.8 seconds left to put the game out of reach.

Madison lost for just the second time in TCC play in the past four seasons.

Morris scored 22 to lead the Trojans.
