Tanis to double up at Siena Heights

BRITTON – Morgan Tanis today signed a letter-of-intent to play college softball and basketball at Siena Heights University.

“Morgan felt like Siena was the best fit for her in the classroom and on the basketball court and softball field,” her father, and basketball coach, Craig Tanis said. “We are excited that she is staying close to home as it will make it easy for us to watch her play and develop as a player and a person.”

The Britton-Deerfield senior made her announcement Thursday.

Both her parents played college sports at Siena Heights. Craig played basketball from 1988 to 1991 and was inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame in 2003. Leslie Tanis, who is the BD softball coach, also played basketball and softball for Siena Heights, from 1988 to 1991.

Morgan is a four-year starter on the BD girls basketball team, which is off to a 9-1 start and shares the TCC lead with Madison with a 6-1 record. She has scored 781 points so far in her career. The Patriots are 53-22 in her four years.
