Deerfield native Ciacelli to coach Whiteford volleyball team

OTTAWA LAKE – Jenny Ciacelli has been tabbed as the next volleyball coach for Whiteford Agricultural Schools.

Ciacelli, 32, is a 2001 graduate of Deerfield who has been coach of the Blissfield freshman and junior varsity volleyball teams for the past two seasons.

“I am really excited to get the opportunity to coach for such wonderful program,” Ciacelli said. “Whiteford has always brought amazing talent to the court year after year and I’m really looking forward to being a part of it this year.  I know I have big shoes to fill with an impressive record to date, but I am confident that we will have a great year.”

Ciacelli played volleyball throughout high school, including the 1999 Deerfield team that advanced to the Class D quarterfinals. She played intramural volleyball in college plus beach volleyball and summer leagues. She said she will get Whiteford into summer leagues and she is planning an in-house camp as well.

“This summer I will be spending a lot of time with the girls getting to know them and learning more about their skill level and their playing style,” she said. “I am very eager to get into the gym with this amazingly talented group of girls and work with them on the court.”

“We are very excited to have Jenny Ciacelli on board,” said Whiteford Athletic Director Nate Gust. “She is a great young coach with a willingness to build a top-notch program.”

The Bobcats have won 23 Tri-County Conference championships and start the 2015 season with a 42-match winning streak in league play.

Ciacelli takes over for Kathy Albers, who coached 13 seasons and won a school-record 359 games during that span.
