Austin Sandusky had several chances to let his success go to his head.
It seems so long ago now, but how about that game in 2011 when he scored three touchdowns against Madison, or the time that same season he returned a kickoff a Tri-County Conference record-tying 98 yards for a TD? By the time his freshman athletic season was over, he had won four letters and won a state championship in track. No matter what the accomplishment, or at what age, however, Sandusky never lost focus.
“He could very easily have let things go to his head,” said Dan Hoffman, Morenci’s track coach. “But he had such humility. That was the thing about him – he had time for everyone and was always a class act.”
