One in a series of notes from around the TCC training camps:
PETERSBURG – Trent Schankin said in June a broken ankle wasn’t going to derail his junior season at Summerfield.
He might have been right.
Summerfield coach Erik Johnson said Friday that the quarterback-to-be was cleared by doctors to resume all football activities. If all goes as planned, Schankin could be back under center when the Summerfield season opens Aug. 28.
Schankin threw for more than 2,000 yards on the Bulldog JV team last year and will have offensive weapons in Josh VanKainen, Chase Pirolli and Levi Ladd. Ladd was the front runner to replace Schankin if he was unable to start the season at QB.
Schankin had injured his ankle in an off-season drill.
