ERIE – Summerfield’s defensive pressure forced Erie Mason into numerous turnovers and held the Eagles to just six 3-pointers Tuesday as it won on the road, 65-59.
Trent Schankin scored 22 and Tyler VanKainen 16 for the Bulldogs as they held one of the county’s top scorers in Greg Liedel to just nine points.
The Bulldogs led 28-27 at halftime, but Schankin scored eight quick points as the Bulldogs took at 39-30 lead early in the third. Erie Mason cut the score to 61-57 with 39 seconds to play, but the Bulldogs held off the Eagles with timely free throw shooting.
Connor Willis scored 19 and C.J. Henning 17 for the Eagles.
