Madison falls in Regional final

RIVERVIEW — The Madison Trojans pulled to within six points with a minute to play in Thursday’s Class C girls basketball Regional final against Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett, but came up short, 47-37.

The Trojans end the season 22-2, tying a school record for wins. They also finished 14-0 in the TCC, won a District title and had win streaks of nine and 13 games during the season.

“I told the kids I was proud of their effort,” Trojan coach Rick McNeil said. “The effort was there right from the buzzer. I told them not to dwell on one game. We had a great season. There’s a lot to be proud of.”

Kendall Hudson led Madison with 17 points in her final game as a Trojan.
