PETERSBURG – Summerfield’s new girls basketball coach is hoping to do what he did to the softball programs at Jefferson and Dundee – get them to the state championship games.
Mickey Moody was hired to coach the Bulldogs, replacing Stewart Carr, who was with Summerfield for one season (5-16, 2-12).
Moody has coached girls basketball and softball at Jefferson and Dundee since the early 2000s. He took Jefferson to the 2006 state championship softball game and in 2013 led Dundee to its first-ever state softball title. He also was an assistant boys coach at Dundee from 2010 to 2015.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to coach the Summerfield basketball team and looking forward to coach an athletic group of players,” Moody said. “I know the league is very tough and we will have our work cut out for us, but I am looking forward to the challenge and watching the girls compete.”
