Bobcats to play for District title fourth straight season

The Whiteford Bobcats Friday will be playing in the Division 8 District final. And, looking back through the TCC history of playoff teams, it’s just the second time in league history that one school has appeared in four consecutive District final games.

Here’s a look:

Britton Deerfield 1998-1999-2000: The Patriots lost in the Regional final in 1998 and advanced to the state semifinals in both 1999 and 2000. [They were not a playoff qualifier in 1997 or 2001]

Clinton 2012-2013-2014-2015: Clinton’s historic run from 2012 to 2015 included trips to the state championship games in 2013 and 2015. [The Redskins lost in the playoff opener in both 2011 and 2016 and fell in the District finals in 2014].

Morenci 1995-1996-1997: The Bulldogs appeared in the state finals in 1995 and 1996 and lost in the second playoff game in 1998. [They did not make the playoffs in 1994 or 1999].

Sand Creek 1987-1988-1989: Sand Creek advanced to the state semifinals in 1987, 1988 and 1989 but did not appear in the playoffs in 1986 or 1990.

Sand Creek 2003-2004-2005-2006-2007-2008: Sand Creek’s greatest playoff run – and the best in TCC history – occurred between 2003 and 2008. The Aggies advanced to the state semifinals in 2003, 2005 and 2007 while making the District finals in 2004, 2006 and 2008.

Morenci 2014-2015-2016: Morenci is in its third straight District final – all against Whiteford. The Bulldogs won the 2014 matchup.

Whiteford 2013-2014-2015-2016: The Bobcats go into Friday’s District final against Morenci having advanced to the regional final (2013), the District final (2014) and state semifinals (2015).
