Britton Deerfield pitcher Alex Lord will miss the rest of the 2017 baseball season, Patriot coach Jared Janssen said.
Lord will have Tommy John surgery.
“He was on pace to be an All-State candidate with his numbers so far,” Janssen said. “Plus, he was our leading hitter.”
Lord had pitched in 19 and one-third innings with 36 strikeouts. He had issued just two walks and nine hits and one earned run in going 2-0 on the mound.
Last season, Lord was 8-3 on the hill for BD with a 1.22 ERA, 79 strikeouts and three saves. He batted .402 with six doubles, 26 RBIs and 19 runs scored. Lord was named All-Lenawee County and All-Tri-County Conference.
A senior, Lord recently signed to pitch at Schoolcraft College next year.
