A Madison win and Whiteford loss Thursday has put the Trojans alone on top of the TCC.
Madison beat Clinton 66-20 while Sand Creek downed Whiteford 46-36.
It was an impressive night on defense for both the Trojans and Aggies.
The Trojans held Clinton to 10 points in the first half and shut them out in the third quarter.
“I thought we did an excellent job defensively,” Madison coach Rick McNeil said. “We mixed things up a little bit, playing some man-to-man and some zone and threw in some full court pressure. We had great intensity and did a nice job locking them down.”
Sand Creek slowed Whiteford’s top scorer, Baylee Baldwin.
“Our defense in the first half was tremendous,” Aggie coach Matt Benge said.
Whiteford’s Baylee Baldwin, who came into the game averaging 22 points a game, was limited to two points in the first half and nine for the game.
“Hannah Reckner and Vernae Hillard followed her tirelessly and executed our game plan,” Benge said.
In other action, Morenci held on to beat Britton Deerfield 57-49 and Summerfield won for the first time this season, beating Whitmore Lake 36-18.
