HUDSON – Erie Mason claimed its first-ever Tri-County Conference championship in any sport and Morenci’s girls won its first TCC cross country championship since 2003 Tuesday at the TCC championships.
In the girls race Tuesday, Morenci finished 2-3-6 to claim the top spot over Madison. Libby Rorick was second, Neili Pike third and Leah Rorick shaved more than 45 seconds off her previous personal record to finish sixth to lead the Bulldogs. Morenci finished first in the league standings after winning both league jamborees as well.
Summerfield’s Alexandria Ausmus won the race in 20:39.24. She also finished first in the first two TCC jamborees.
Whiteford’s boys tied Erie Mason with 53 points in Tuesday’s championship race. The Eagles won the first two jamborees and won the league title. Whiteford finished second, the highest ever finish for a Bobcat boys cross country team in the final league standings.
Madison’s Nethanel Leupold was first in Tuesday’s race.
This is Erie Mason’s first season competing in the TCC. The win gives them their first-ever TCC championship in any sport.
