The Morenci Bulldogs were well represented on today’s Division 4 Associated Press All-State basketball team.
Bachelder, a 5-7 junior, was the leading scorer on a Morenci team that went 22-4 and reached the quarterfinals. She averaged 10 points a game, made 15 3-pointers and had several big games in the state tournament as the Bulldogs made their run.
Joughin took over a Morenci team that had won just six games in the two years before she got the job and has turned the Bulldogs into a winner.
Morenci has gone 51-17 in her three seasons, won two league titles and this year won the school’s first regional since 2011. The Bulldogs did it with defense, allowing fewer than 27 points a game.
